History

This Order was founded by an official Decree from the Minister of Defence, Valentin Alexandrov. It was intended to fill the void of conferrable awards that was created following the cancellation of all other Bulgarian Orders on March 29, 1991.

The Order was conferred upon foreigners and Bulgarian civilians and military personnel who had rendered loyal service, in wartime and peacetime, within the Bulgarian Military or Ministry of Defence.

The Order was discontinued during the redesign of the Bulgarian honours system in 2003.

The reverse inscription translates to "For Loyal Service Under the Banner."

The III Class was also awarded as the I Class for women, the only difference is that the award is worn on a bow ribbon.
