History
This medal is a continuation of the Army Commemorative Medal instituted by the Czechoslovak government in exile in 1943.
It was awarded to Czechoslovak citizens who were outside the country prior to the German annexation, or who escaped the country afterwards, and subsequently joined the Armed Forces of other Allied countries to continue fighting.
There are a few minor variations within the medal design.
The ribbon may be decorated with different sized clasps reading "FRANCIE", "F", "SSSR", "SSSR", "STREDNI VYCHOD", "SV", "VELKA BRITANIE", and "VB".
The reverse inscription roughly translates to "Czechoslovak Army Abroad 1939 1945."
See Commemorative Medal of the Czechoslovak Army Abroad, CZE114 in the Medals and Decorations of the Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1945) for the original medal.
