History

The Commemorative Cross for the Wounded of King Paul and Queen Frederika was created in 1947. It was awarded by Queen Frederika to injured combatants of the Greek Civil War on hospital visits.

The design of the Silver Cross is based on the Cross for the Wounded (1940-1941) that Archbishop of Athens Crysanthos had awarded six years previously. It features the crossed cyphers of King Paul and Queen Frederika on the obverse.
