History

The Commendation Medal for Administration in the Armed Forces was established by Presidential Decree on May 15, 1991. It is awarded to military personnel for long and faithful administrative service.

The I Class Medal is awarded to Army Colonels, the II Class Medal is awarded to Army Lieutenants and Majors, and the III Class Medal is awarded to Army Captains for the prescribed service time according to Law 2439, instituted in 1996. Promotions are made according to increased service time of 50% of the original requirement. The Medal is also awarded in the same manner to corresponding ranks of the Hellenic Navy and Air Force.
