History

The Army Pioneers Medal was established in 1940, just prior to the Soviet occupation. It was suppressed shortly after its establishment, and it was not revived following the collapse of the Soviet regime. It was meant to be awarded to participants in the Lithuanian Wars of Independence, including military personnel and military priests.

The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "For the Freedom of Lithuania, The Pioneers of the Army."
