History

The Nicolae Testemitanu Medal is awarded to Moldovan citizens in recognition of remarkable achievements in the development of healthcare, preventative medicine, and pharmaceuticals. It is also awarded for implementing new healthcare practices, and for contributions to medicine, research, and public policy. It is named in honour of Nicolae Nicolae Testemițanu, the Moldovan surgeon, scientist, and politician.
