History
The Decoration for Merit in Statistical Surveying was established by the Council of Ministers in 1985 and was administered by the President of the Central Statistical Office. It was awarded to employees of the Central Statistical Office, as well as to other organisations and operational units, in recognition of meritorious service. Recognised merits included long service, the promotion of statistical projects, and education. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989, but a similar decoration was established by the Republic of Poland in 2003.
The II Class Decoration features initials on the obverse that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and a reverse inscription that translates to "For Merit to Statistics."
