History

The Decoration for the Brotherhood in Arms was established by the Council of Ministers in 1963. It was awarded by the Minister of Defence to members of the Polish Armed Forces in recognition of cooperation between states regulated by the Warsaw Pact. It was discontinued in 1991 following the collapse of the communist regime.

There are two versions of the Silver Medal that differ in suspension. The first is attached to a ribbon bar, while the second is attached to a ribbon via a chain suspension. Both versions feature an obverse inscription that translates to "Brotherhood of Arms, On Guard for Peace and Socialism," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Ministry of National Defense, People's Republic of Poland."
