History
The Medal for Service to the Nation was established by the Council of Ministers in 1974. It was awarded by the Ministry of the Interior to personnel of the Polish Civil Militia and others in the employ of the Ministry of the Interior for long and faithful service. It was permanently discontinued in 1990 following the collapse of the communist regime in the previous year.
The I Class Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to “For National Service.” The reverse features initials that stand for “Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych” (Ministry of the Interior) and an additional inscription that translates to “Polish People’s Republic.”
