History
The Medal of the Armed Struggle for the Restoration of Poland was established in 1983. It was awarded to Polish citizens in recognition of fighting against opposition to communism in the 1940s and was also awarded posthumously. It was administered by the Council of State until the collapse of the communist regime in 1989 and was officially discontinued in 1992.
The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Manifest of the Polish Committee of National Liberation," and a reverse inscription that translates to "To Participants of the Struggle in Defense of People's Rule." The reverse initials stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic).
