History
The honorary title of Meritorious Military Pilot of the Polish People's Republic was established by the Council of State in 1978. It was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.
It was conferred upon Polish military pilots for valour or contributions to the training and combat readiness of aviation personnel, and to First Class Pilots for 12 years of meritorious service. These service requirements could be waived, but only under the most exceptional circumstances. Recipients were entitled to a monetary award in the form of a pension increase.
The Badge features initials on the obverse that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and an additional inscription that translates to "Meritorious Military Pilot."
