History

The honorary title of Meritorious to National Health was established by the Council of State in 1979. It was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.

It was conferred upon Polish healthcare workers (apart from physicians) for meritorious service. Recognised merits included long and faithful service, the implementation and promotion of health education, the implementation of new techniques or technology, and the training of healthcare professionals. Recipients were entitled to a monetary award in the form of a pension increase.

The Badge features an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious to National Health."
