This Medal was awarded by the Ministry of Military Affairs in recognition of service in the struggle for Polish independence from 1918-1921. It was awarded to military personnel and members of paramilitary organizations for 3 months of active service. It was also awarded to civilians who assisted the military, to medics, to foreigners who supported the Polish forces, and to all who were wounded or killed in combat. The reverse inscription translates to "Poland, To Her Defender.” There may be additional versions that differ in size.

The Commemorative Medal for the War 1918-1921 was awarded by the Ministry of Military Affairs in recognition of participation in the struggle for Polish independence from 1918-1921.
