History
The Congo Star was first established by the Republic of Poland in 2007 and was later finalised in 2010. It is awarded to members of the Polish military, the Internal Security Agency, the Foreign Intelligence Agency, the Military Intelligence Agency, the Government Protection Bureau, the Central Anticorruption Bureau, the Military Counterintelligence Service, the Border Guard, the State Fire Service, and police officers who served in the military operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Gabon. It can also be awarded to civilians or foreigners for cooperation with Polish operations.
Ribbon clasps with numbers are worn to denote the contingent of the recipient.
The Bronze Star features initials on the obverse that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland) with an inscription that translates to "Congo." The reverse inscription translates to "I Serve Peace."
