History
The Decoration for Merit in Fire Protection was established by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration in 1997 as a replacement for the Decoration for Merit in Fire Protection that was awarded in the Polish People’s Republic. It is currently awarded to Polish professional and volunteer firefighters in recognition of saving lives or property in the event of a fire or other natural disaster. It may also be awarded to other Polish citizens in recognition of equally meritorious actions during a fire or natural disaster.
The I Class Medal features reverse inscription that can be translated as "For Life Saving and Protection of Property."
