History
The Decoration for Merit in the Financial Industry was established by the Council of Ministers in 2003 as a replacement for the Decoration for Merit to Financial Services that was awarded in the Polish People’s Republic. It is currently awarded by the Minister of Finance to employees of the Ministry of Finance in recognition of meritorious service. It may also be awarded to workers in finance departments of other government branches for meritorious service, as well as to other Polish citizens for outstanding contributions to finance and accounting in Poland.
The Medal features initials on the obverse that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland) with an additional inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to Public Finance." The reverse inscription translates to "Minister of Finance."
