History
The Greater Poland Uprising Cross was established in 1957. It was awarded to armed combatants of the Greater Poland Uprising of 1918-1919 and was also awarded posthumously. It was administered by the Council of State until 1989 and was subsequently awarded by the Republic of Poland for a short period before it was officially discontinued in 1999.
There are two versions of the Bronze Cross that differ in inscription. The first features initials that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and the second features initials that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland). Both versions feature an additional inscription that translates to "To the Insurgents of Greater Poland."
The first version is listed in the Medals & Decorations of the Polish People's Republic (1944-1989).
