History
The Medal of the Commission for National Education was established during the Polish People's Republic and is currently awarded by the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Poland. It is awarded to Polish teachers, educators, academics, and education activists for exceptional contributions to education in Poland. Recognised merits include long and dedicated service, the authorship of especially useful educational works, and social activism in favour of education.
There are two versions of the Bronze Medal that differ in inscription. The first features a reverse inscription that translates to "Polish People's Republic," and the second features an inscription that translates to "Republic of Poland." Both versions feature an obverse inscription that translates to "Medal of the National Education Commission."
The previous version is listed in the Medals & Decorations of the Polish People's Republic (1944-1989).
