History
The Mediterranean Star was first established by the Republic of Poland in 2007 and was later finalised in 2010. It is awarded to members of the Polish military, the Internal Security Agency, the Foreign Intelligence Agency, the Military Intelligence Agency, the Government Protection Bureau, the Central Anticorruption Bureau, the Military Counterintelligence Service, the Border Guard, the State Fire Service, and police officers who served in Operation Active Endeavour. It can also be awarded to civilians or foreigners for cooperation with Polish operations.
The Bronze Star features initials on the obverse that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland) with an inscription that translates to "Mediterranean Sea." The reverse inscription translates to "I Serve Peace." It is worn with an "ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR" clasp.
