History
The Order of the Cross of Independence was established by the Republic of Poland in 2010 as a continuation of the Cross of Independence established in 1930. It is conferred upon those who freely provided service in defence of the independence of the Polish nation from 1939-1956.
The II Class Cross is conferred upon those who have shown prolonged dedication to Polish independence and Polish institutions, including acts of bravery.
The I Class Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Independence Fighters.”
