History

The Commemorative Cross for the Resistance Against Communism was established in 2000. It is awarded to Romanian citizens who fought against the communist regime from 1947-1989, and those who were imprisoned or deported during this period for political, ethnic, or religious reasons.

The II Class Medal is awarded to political prisoners who were imprisoned for between 30 days and 12 years.

The II Class Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Commemorative Cross for the Anti-Communist Resistance," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Resistance Through Faith."
