The Order of Commercial and Industrial Merit was established in 2000. It is conferred upon Romanian citizens and foreigners in recognition of meritorious service rendered to Romanian commerce and industry.

Membership in the Knight grade is limited to 2600 members.

The Knight features a reverse inscription that translates to "Industrial and Commercial Merit."
