The Order of Commercial and Industrial Merit was established in 2000. It is conferred upon Romanian citizens and foreigners in recognition of meritorious service rendered to Romanian commerce and industry.

Membership in the Officer grade is limited to 1300 members.

The Officer features a reverse inscription that translates to "Industrial and Commercial Merit."
