    History

The Order of Diplomatic Merit was established in 2000. It is conferred upon Romanian members of the Foreign Ministry, including those employed in embassies and consulates. It may also be awarded to foreigners who have made significant contributions to the development of relations between Romania and other sovereign states.

Membership in the Commander grade is limited to 80 members.

The Commander is identical ...  to the Grand Officer, however, only the Grand Officer is worn with a Breast Star.

The Commander features a reverse inscription that translates to "Always Faithful to the Country."
