History

This Order was conferred upon Romanian medical professionals for meritorious service in the field. It was permanently suppressed after the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

The medallion features the bowl of Hygieia, a common symbol for pharmacy that originates from depictions of the Hygieia, the Greek goddess of health and sanitation.

Recipients of the III Class Breast Star were granted a monetary award of 800 lei (200 USD) and two additional days of paid leave.
