History

The Order of Scientific Merit was conferred upon Romanian citizens in recognition of merit, including scientific discoveries and advancements in method and research, in a variety of scientific fields. It was permanently suppressed following the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.

III Class award recipients were granted 800 lei (200 USD) and 2 additional days of paid leave.
