History

This Medal was founded unofficially to recognize the service of Italian military personnel in the Greek conquest during World War II.

There are two main models of the Medal. The first model features the image of the Parthenon on the obverse medallion, and have the obverse inscription "1941 A XIX OCCVPAZIONE ITALIANA DELLA GRECIA" and the reverse inscription "ROMA DOMA." These medals are stamped "GIANNONE LORIOLI." The second model features the image of a winged victory on the obverse medallion, and have the obverse inscription "VINCERE 1940 41 XIX" and the reverse inscription "NOI SPEZZEREMO LE RENI ALLA GRECIA." These medals are stamped "AFFER" for the engraver.
