This Medal was conferred upon doctors and members of the Medical Committees in recognition of their efforts to treat citizens affected by cholera.

There are two versions of this Medal.

The Medals minted in 1835 feature the reverse inscription "AEGROTANTIBVS CIVIBVS PRAESENTI AVXILIO SVBLEBATIS MDCCCXXXV."

The Medals minted in 1836 feature the reverse inscription "OB CIVES A MORBO SERVATOS MDCCCXXXV."

The engraver, Galeazzi Gaspare, worked as a sculptor and medalist at the Mint of Torino.
