History
The Medal was instituted to commemorate the victorious Allied Nations of World War I. Each nation issued their own version of this Medal, with a slight change in the design of the personified Victory on the obverse and various unique reverse designs.
The Italian version of the Medal was instituted by Victor Emmanuel III and was awarded to all Italian combatants, military personnel, and civilians who had rendered service for a minimum of four months in an area of conflict during the First World War.
These medals may be stamped by the designer and manufacturers, including “G.ORSOLINI MOD.,” “G.ORSOLINI MOD. S JOHNSON MILANO,” “ORSOLINI MOD F.M.LORIOLI E C. MILANO”, and “ORSOLINI MOD. SACCHINI MILANO.”
It was designed by G. Orsolini Mod., and there are many official and unofficial versions of the Medal.
