    History

The Order was founded by Frederick III, Emperor of Germany, and it was awarded to the Genoese for the exceptional welcome the Emperor had received while visiting Rome.

This was a relatively short-lived Order.

The insignia of the Order is believed to have been a plain red cross, which was worn suspended from the gold chain collar.
