The Peninsular War Medal for Civilians (Medalha das Campanhas da Guerra Peninsular para Civies) was created by the General Courts of Portugal on May 13, 1825. It was created to reward the services of civilians who had served to Portugal in the Peninsular War.

The Medal was awarded with three grades; I Class for Superiors, II Class for Superiors, and III Class for inferiors. The I Class for Superiors was awarded to civilians who had served from 4 to 6 years; the II Class for Superiors was awarded to civilians had served from 3 or 2 years; while III Class for Inferior was awarded in consideration of Chiefs of campaigns.

Several varieties of this Medal are known due to the recipient was assigned the responsibility of acquiring this Medal.
