Physical Description
A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse bears the bust of Alfonso XII encompassed by the inscription ALFONSO XII A LOS EJERCITOS EN OPERACIONES, the reverse VALOR DISCIPLINA LEALTAD topped with a royal crown and encompassed by an open ended laurel wreath, with a horizontally elongated suspension on a yellow ribbon with two red stripes.
History
The Medal of Alfonso XII was created by Royal Decree on September 8, 1875. The medal was conferred upon Army and Navy forces for their support and actions during 1875-1876.
