Physical Description

An ovular medal, the obverse bears the image of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus encompassed by a border inscribed with NUESTRA SENORA DE COVADONGA, within an open ended palm wreath, the reverse bears the inscription BATALLON DE VOLUNTARIOS DEL PRINCIPADO 1896 encompassed by a border and encompassed by an open ended palm wreath, topped with a castle, the reverse of the castle is inscribed with ASTURIAS, on a loop for suspension.
