The Cross for Bilbao, First Siege was established in Spain by the Regency of Maria Christina on July 6, 1835. It was conferred upon the forces that took part at the heroic defense of Bilbao against Carlists troops in June of 1835.
The Cross was authorized with two grades. The Gold Cross was awarded to Generals and Officers, while the Silver Medal was awarded to enlisted men.
The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Isabel 2nd Fatherland and Freedom," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Siege of Bilbao, June 1835."
