History
The Cross for Defenders of Barcelona was instituted by the Supreme Junta of Barcelona on November 8, 1843. It was awarded in recognition of the courage and efforts of those members of the Royal Army who participated in the defense of Barcelona against a siege and a bombardment ordered by Carlist General Sanz in 1843.
It may be another Cross with similar design that was authorized to reward Carlist troops who defeated royalist forces. This information is not confirmed.
The Cross consisted of a neck Cross and a Breast Star. These may be worn either together or separately.
The Breast Star is found with two different designs. It is not clear if the Cross was awarded by ranks.
