The Cross for M.N. Madrid Volunteers in Cádiz was authorized in Spain on June 23, 1836. It was conferred upon the volunteers of the National Militia who escorted the Constitutional Government from Madrid to Cádiz in 1823.
The Cross was awarded by ranks; the Gold Cross was conferred upon Officers, while the Silver Cross was awarded to enlisted men.
The Cross features an obverse inscription that stands to "To the National Militia of Madrid," and a reverse inscription that stands to "Cadiz Island."
