The Cross for the Defenders of Bilbao, Third Site was authorized in Spain by the Regency of Maria Christina on January 3, 1837. It was conferred upon the individuals who participated in the defense of Bilbao during the third siege of Carlists force in 1836.
The Cross has two grades: the Gold Cross was awarded to Generals and Officers, while the Silver Cross was awarded to enlisted men.
The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "He Defended the Undefeated Bilbao," and reverse inscription that translates to "Bilbao's Third Siege 1836."
