History

The Cross for the Battle of Vitoria was founded in Spain by King Fernando VII on April 2, 1815. It was awarded to the military personnel of the 4th Division of Army Corps, commanded by General Duke of Ciudad Rodrigo and Marshal Don Francisco Tomas de Longa, who defeated the French Army in the Battle of Vitoria on June 21, 1813.

The Gold Cross was awarded to Generals and Officers, while the Silver Cross was awarded to the troops.

The Cross features a reverse inscription that translates to "Recompense for the Battle of Vitoria."
