History


The Cross for the First and Second Sites of Saragossa was founded by Royal Decree on March 25, 1817. It was conferred upon those who participated in the defense of Saragossa against two French sites occurred during the years 1808, and 1809.

The Cross features a reverse inscription that translates to "The King to the Defenders of Saragossa at its First and Second Sites."
