The Medal for the Duke of Ciudad Rodrigo was authorized in Spain by the General Courts, in recognition of the Duke of Ciudad Rodrigo, Arthur Colley Wellesley (1769-1852,) who defeated to French troops at the Battle of Vitoria, a very important Spanish victory at the Peninsular War.
The Medal was awarded to Arthur Colley Wellesley.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Wellington Duke of Ciudad Rodrigo," and a reverse inscription that could be translated to "Victory of Vitoria, in the Name of the General Courts, and the Charcas Deputies."
