History

The Medal for Torralba was awarded to Spanish, Portuguese, and British soldiers who ambushed the French army during the battle of Burgos on June 26, 1809 during the Peninsular War (1808-1814).

It is not clear if the composition of the Medal denoted the rank of the recipient.

The ribbon of the Medal consists of a black, red, and blue stripes that symbolize each of the countries involved in the ambush.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that could be translated to "Surprise in Torralba," and it has a plain reverse.
