History

The Royal Order for Recognition of the Victims of Terrorism (Real Orden de Reconocimento a las Victimas del Terrorismo) was instituted in Spain by decree of October 8, 1999. It was established in honor of the victims of terrorism in Spain.

It is conferred upon Spanish and foreign citizens who have suffered the consequences of the terrorism in Spain.

The Badge is awarded to those who have the status of threatened, unharmed in terrorist attack, as well as the spouse of the deceased or person linked with him by analogous relationship of affection, as parents and children, grandparents, and grandchildren of the deceased.
