The Commemorative Medal for Armed Humanitarian Operations was established by Royal Decree on September 11, 1987. It is conferred upon Belgian military personnel or civilians in recognition of service in armed humanitarian operations. It may also be awarded posthumously.
The ribbon clasps associated with this medal are issued to identify the specific operations in which the recipient participated. The following clasps are authorised for wear on the ribbon:

The obverse features an inscription in French and Dutch, which translates to "Armed Humanitarian Operations."
