The Commemorative Medal for Postal Services (1949) was established by Royal Decree on May 2, 1949, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the first Belgian stamp and the 75th anniversary of Belgium's role in the establishment of the Universal Postal Union. It was awarded to civil servants and postal workers who had served for at least 25 in the Belgian Postal Services. It also awarded to retired workers who had served for 25 years.
The obverse inscription translates to "The Stamp in Belgium," and the reverse inscription translates to "Universal Postal Union." The medal could be inscribed in Dutch if requested.
