The Commemorative Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Royal Donation Fund was established by Royal Decree on December 21, 1953. It was awarded to Belgian citizens in recognition of good and loyal services rendered in favour of the Royal Donation Fund. This fund is an autonomous society which manages the properties that King Leopold II donated to the State in 1903. Only an estimated 40 Medals were awarded.
The obverse inscription translates to "King Leopold II of Belgium" and the reverse inscription appears in Dutch and French and translates to "Royal Donation."
