History


The Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Belgian Congo was established by Royal Decree on August 1, 1958, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Belgian takeover of the Congo. It was awarded to individuals in recognition of 25 years of service to the Belgian Congo colony. The qualification period could be reduced to 10 years of service or less, but only under exceptional circumstances.
