History
The Volunteer Medal (1940-1945) was awarded to Belgian citizens and foreigners in recognition of volunteer service in the Belgian Armed Forces, the Belgian Congo Force Publique, the militarised Merchant Navy, the Belgian section of the Royal Air Force, and the Belgian section of the Royal Navy during the Second World War. It was also awarded posthumously. No Medals were awarded after July 3, 1951.
The reverse inscription translates to "Volunteer."
