History

This Order is conferred upon Croatian and foreign nationals as a sign of contributions to the development of Croatian independence and statehood.

The Order is named after Ante Starcevic who was a politician and a writer during the 19th century. During his lifetime he would advocate for Croatian independence and would write plays and books.
