History

This Order is conferred upon Croatian and foreign nationals in recognition of those who died during the Croatian War of Independence, and under the circumstances of immediate threat of war or emergency situations during times of peace.

The Gold Badge is awarded for posthumous valour in combat. The Silver Badge is awarded to individuals who have been declared missing in the Croatian War of Independence.

This Order is named after Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan who would lead a conspiracy to overthrow the Hasburg family during the 17th century.
