History


Established by King Frederick IX, this medal was originally awarded to employees of the Civil Defense but, is now conferred to members of the Civil Defense, volunteer firefighters, and volunteers and employees of the Danish Emergency Management Agency, who have served for 25 years after the age of 20.

Both men and women are eligible to receive this award.

From September 17, 1968, foreigners who have rendered outstanding services to the Civil Defense were eligible to receive this award.

Individuals who have rendered 40 years of service may receive a silver oak leaf clasp on the ribbon, and individuals who have rendered 50 years of service may receive a gold oak leaf clasp on the medal's ribbon.
